Book: Little Tales Of Big India
Author: Sabra Patni
The book focuses on three short stories of three different girls from different parts of our countries, different social status, facing some real tragedies in their lives, with which many can relate or we see every day in newspapers or news channels. But what makes this more impactful and interesting is the hopeful, ending that we needed to see in the real life more.
The first story based on true narratives of almost every woman who has stepped foot outside her home to go to work using public or shared transport. She faces everyday of that journey and how she finally gets her justice.
The first story deals with sexual harassment that happens to every other girl at some point in her life and sometimes, sadly, multiple times.
By sexual harassment I do not mean rape or molestation but the feeling of discomfort that is felt by a girl/woman when the opposite gender stares through you like an x-ray machine, giving you those shitty smiles and smirks and sometimes by an unwanted display of their little soldier.
The first story talks about exactly that!
The second story focuses on struggling and common phenomenon that happens to the children who live on the street.
And the third story: I don't want to reveal everything. So read to know
Every emotions I felt that all this was happening in front of me. Every contrast of the society you can find here easily with representing the practical ironies associated.
A realistic and a must read.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, specially every girl or women..!
Every women out there should read this at once.
